Using the Worksheets

Dear Reader

First of all, thank you for your interest in my reading blog!

Now, I am going to give you some advice about how to read the news articles and use the worksheets.

This is what I suggest:
  1. First, click on "Download the Worksheet" and print it.
  2. Second, click on "Download the Original Article" and print this out too*. If you don't want to print it out, you could just copy and paste the article to a Word document.
  3. Next, look at Part "C" of the worksheet, which is the word matching exercise. Above each table, you will see all the key words from the article. I recommend scanning the original article and highlighting or underlining these key words. Doing this will help you later when you are doing the word matching exercise.
  4. After that, do "Part A" on the worksheet (think about the discussion questions if you are by yourself, or discuss them with a friend if you are doing a worksheet together); then do "Part B" (read the article, guessing any words you don't know); then "Part C" (word match); then finish off with Part D (reading comprehension & post reading discussion).
Of course, you can read the articles and do the worksheets any way that you want to; you don't have to follow my suggestions. The most important thing is to use a method that is the most convenient and enjoyable for you.

Let me know if you have any suggestions and... Good Luck with your reading!

Best regards

Simon

* I would be very happy to reformat the original articles myself with key words highlighted, however, I am not allowed to do this for copyright reasons.
